Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker claims side had more desire than Celtic
Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Richie Foran claims that his side were able to fight back from two goals down to claim a draw with Scottish Premier League giants Celtic as they had more desire to claim a positive result from the game.
Celtic took the lead through a first-half strike by South Korea international Ki Sung-Yeung and a second-half effort by Paddy McCourt. However, Caley hit back through a Foran strike and Grant Munro's 83rd minute header.
The result means that Caley have increased their lead over Motherwell to two points, and are just a single point behind third placed Heart of Midlothian. It also means the club has gone more than a calendar year without being defeated on the road.
Caley's fightback led the Celtic Park crowd to fall silent and Foran put that down to the home fans being nervous that they could fall further behind Rangers in the SPL title race.
He told the Daily Record: "You could have heard a pin drop out on the park at times, which was strange. That was why we didn't give up even when we went two goals down. We knew if we carried on taking the game to Celtic we'd get something. They seemed nervous
and we took advantage of that fact.
"I thought we controlled the second half, even though Celtic increased their lead at one point. We were positive in everything we did and showed a great desire throughout the match. Our desire was greater than Celtic and we got at them because we could see
they were nervous."
The result has left Celtic two points behind defending SPL champions Rangers, while the Ibrox club have a game in hand after their clash with Dundee United on Sunday 28 November was called off due to bad weather.
