Inverted p***s in child, is there urologist in the house?

I have an 8 year old son who is the apple of my eye! He was circumcised at 2 days old. No problems before circumcision or during the healing. I did notice though during the 2 years he was diapered that the cirumcision appeared to be incomplete. The skin looked rough and still covered the head. His pediatrician was never worried about it. I have to admit, I don't make a habbit of examining his wee wee but over the years, it has appeared smaller. I have never said anything to him about it or asked questions as I chalked it up to the temperature and gave it no further thought. However, in retrospect, his last physical was in May (with a new pediatrician) and when it came time for the doctor to examine his privates, he became upset and refused to remove his pants and underwear. After a few minutes of the doctor trying to rationalize with him, I was ready put him on restriction for the rest of the day so he finally submitted. The doctor did his exam and I turned my back to give my son privacy. Dr did not say anything looked abnormal. This was his first time seeing my son for a physical so he really didn't have a basis of comparison. Fast forward to yesterday, he left the bathroom door open and he was sitting down on the toilet. I was joking with him and told him that he'd better use air freshener and close the door! He stood up and I couldn't believe my eyes. His p***s seemed to be completely sunken in! I then started to question him and he said it's been like that for a while. He said it really sinks in when he is hot or relaxes--he also said it is not painful. He asked if he was OK. I told him I was concerned but as long as there is no pain to not worry about it and we will make a doctors appointment to find out what is going on.

I have a lapse in his insurance coverage (changing plans) and I intend on heading straight to a pediatric urologist as soon as I can find one. I'm not really going to waste money with the pediatrician when I am certain he is going to want my son to see a specialist.

Also, if it helps, my son weighs over 100 lbs and is 8 yo. What I want to know is has anyone heard of this before, what could have caused it and is this something that can resolve on its own? Any serious replies will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

  1. It was a mistake to circumcise him as most doctors say the risks outweigh any benefits - if there are any benefits.

It is hard to know what exactly the problem is.  The fact is you have done something abnormal to an important part of the body and so it is bound to have an effect.  The body is perfect as it is - mess with it at your peril.  The condition is most likely described as concealed or buried p***s :

    scroll down on this page:http://www.catholicsagainstcircumcision....

It is rarely genetic it almost certainly is as a result of a badly performed circumcision(can any circumcision be described as going well?).  What you can do something about is his weight.  This is exacerbating his condition and making it worse.

You should him well.  Try to restrict take-aways,fast food and ready-meals.  Limit his sugar intake.

Something some people neglect to think about when losing weight is what they drink.  Cut out any drinks that have a high sugar content - so that is fruit juices, colas etc.  It is best for him to drink pure water.  Any excess sugar will convert to fat.  Make sure he gets lots of vegetables - the best way of doing this is if you eat it too - he is more likely to follow behavior rather than being told to eat something.

Finally - get him out doing some exercise.  Running - playing games etc.  Make him join a group where they do activities.

The people on this forum have sons with the same problem as you:

  2. You are going to have to find a way to make sure Doctor sees him. If it is just an inverted p***s then it is fine. You need to make sure though.

It is very common for boys to have a p***s that is retracted into the fat and skin over the pubic bone. This typically resolves when the child is older and starts to go through puberty, by this time the baby fat is gone, and the p***s starts to grow.

There is an increased risk of infections and complications if one tries surgery, and it is usually best to leave things alone unless the child were to have recurrent infections.

  3. Nephew is a urologist?  You quoted that directly from a website that I just looked at when I did a search.  Urologist my ***.

Anyway, I know nothing about the later part of the story, but the beginning part, there are different levels of circumcision, so you don't have to worry about that.  Some are not full, some are partial.

  4. As a mom you probably wont have peace about it until you see a doctor but, Your son is overweight for his age and it is normal for a p***s to become hidden when boys/men are over weight. Its still there its just hidden due to him being overweight. Little boys usually only have about a 1 inch p***s anyways so it doesnt take much to hide it.

  5. I am speaking from experience... I am a healthy 25yo male and I also have a retractable p***s. I was also circumcised at birth, in a relaxed state sometimes the p***s is barely there (like a nudge I would say), other times it is about 1, 2 or sometimes 3 inches (depends). When erect I am 6 inches long (considered regular on the short side). For me personally, I have always been that way, never hurted or been an issue... of course there have been tiimes when I've felt kinda weird with other "reg" guys, but again that's the way it has always been. In your case, definately take him to the pediatric urologist, also find out if it varies in size at different times... I am sure everything is OK. Hope that sharing this experience helps...

  6. If he has a buried p***s, the last thing any doctor should have done is a circumcision.

It's possible also that this is a complication from circumcision, which is male genital mutilation and always damages the p***s and sexual sensitivity.

Whatever you do, be very careful.   Another genital mutilation could destroy whatever p***s and sensitivity that your son has left.

Don't just listen to any doctor; they don't care about sexual sensitivity or future sexual ability.    All they want to do is circumcise, collect the fees, and claim another victim for the minority religious groups of which they usually are a member.

Remember that any additional penile surgery will diminish whatever sexual sensitivity that your unfortunate son will have left.

A f******n is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.
