  1. a bit latenow,its done and dusted,

  2. I don't think it changed anything about the US.

You voted in Carter, and then had another scandal - with Iran in which Carter was ousted and Reagan was put in - who did secret deals with Iran. No one ever punished Reagan for doing this. He was rewarded with another term, and then a term for his CIA-head George Bush Snr. And the rewards continued for Bush Jnr who toppled the election process by the coup that saw Al Gore's votes denied.

It's like Americans are screaming out "Go on, fool us again and again!"

  3. It forever changed the way that the press viewed the presidency.  Prior to the Watergate investigation, the presidency was somewhat off limits.  But their investigation opened up all levels of government to scrutiny by the press and the public.  It certainly helped make public officials more accountable for their actions.

  4. It changed the way the citizens of this, and other, countries felt about the Presidency and the United States.

I think they worked hard, sourced their material, and, with a good dose of Ben Bradlee in there, DID NOT PRINT it until it was vetted.
