Investors excited about Pakistan Premier League – Cricket News Update
Following the decision of Pakistan Cricket Board;s cheif, Zaka Ashraf, to arrange an international Twenty20 league, it has been reported that many of the local stake holders have shown interest in investing in the project, allowing the cricket-deprived fans
to witness some of the renowned international stars playing in the country.
The league is set to be named as the Pakistan Premier League, and according to the PCB Chief Operating Office, Subhan Ahmed, four corporate companies have already shown interest in taking this idea forward and work on its implementation. The board, however,
will need some time to finalize the venture.
“We are thrilled to see the initial response but we have to sit and look into the modalities and feasibility of having such an event in Pakistan involving foreign players," told Subhan.
The COO also informed that the PPL will follow the same pattern as the Indian Premier League, including foreign talent, which in turn will raise the intensity of the event.
This new initiative taken by the PCB came after the successful completion of the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup, which took place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from March 25 to 1st April. Many domestic and national team players participated
in the tournament, bringing back a much needed cricketing spirit.
