Invincible Lee Chong Wei moves forward to third consecutive final - Badminton News
The most successful player today, Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia, who has also occupied the top place in the world ranking of the Men’s Singles category, once again proved that he is the best in the game.
The top seeded Malaysian outclassed his Chinese opponent, Du Pengyu, in a semi-final match of 2011 Korea Open super series premier tournament. The defending champion, Lee Chong Wei, took only 34 minutes to beat the Chinese and booked his spot in the final
of this lucrative event that is offering US$ 1.2 million.
Du Pengyu enjoyed a tremendous run from his first round to the semi-final, as he defeated some of the best shuttlers of the event. He defeated Dicky Palyama (Netherland) in the first round, Bao Chunlai (China) in the second round and Kenichi Tago (Japan)
in the quarter-final encounter. His terrific performance was stopped by top seed, Lee Chong Wei, who is considered as the best in the game.
Chong Wei was the commander of the match and always remained on the driving seat. He made his opponent work hard to even return shots driven from the racquet of the Malaysian.
Lee Chong Wei, who has won two major titles in the opening month of 2011, is passionate to add the third one to his basket. The 28-year-old Malaysian won the opening tournament VICTOR- BWF Superseries Finals in the opening week of 2011 and then lifted the
flag once again at home, in the Proton Malaysian Open Super Series 2011. His impressive technique and style of play puts him in the queue of the all-time top players, in the history of Badminton.
In the first game of the semi-final, Lee Chong Wei made it hard for his Chinese opponent Du Pengyu, to match his speed and accuracy. Chong Wei’s hard to return smashes and superb net play did not let the young Chinese shuttler control the match. The Malaysian
took the opening game by a huge margin of 21-10. The second game also revealed the same score as the World Number One and the top seed never let Du Pengyu fight back in the game.
In the final match of the 2011 Korea Open super series premier, Lee Choong Wei will meet the winner of the other semi-final, which will be played between the number six seed Chinese shuttler, Lin Dan and Simon Santoso from Indonesia.
