1. I put pictures on ours (like you would for a birth announcment) and then had it say this

    Intoducing

    Mary and Beth....new last name

    Born

    BIRTHDATES

Blessed with thier forever family on

    YOUR ADOPTION DATE

    Loving family,

    PARENTS

    AND SIBLINGS NAMES

  2. What ever you BOTH like.

    I'm happy for you, Cassie!

  3. OK, here's my ideas, they sort of go together:

Take photos of you and your sister, seperate, then take a photo of your new parents together, then put them together like (photo 1 You) + (photo 2 sister) + (photo parents 3) = (photo of all of you together) and in that last photo you all hold a poster than says "FAMILY!" String these together so they sort of hang like a banner and hang it up somewhere... decorate it with flowers to match idea below (good way to do that is to get a Hawaiian flower necklace from the party store, take it apart so the flowers are loose and "restring" them on your banner so there are about five or six flowers between each photo)....

Second idea: get the paper flower kits, you can buy them at book stores and order online and have a craft fun time at the party, have everyone make a flower - they'll have fun making it (they're not hard and they'll be impressed with themselves!) the kits have instructions that are made dummy proof. Then have little tags and have them write a piece of advice or good well message or prayer on it and their name on the other side and have them tag their flower and "plant" the flowers in pretty vases that you have as a centerpiece to your table. Then you and your sibling will have something tangible leftover to remember the love and celebration of your party.

  4. First of all.. congratulations. I got goose bumps when I read your question...

Oh a few suggestions.. maybe some flowers.. and each of your faces in the center of the flowers... and a cute saying..

Like.. Sometimes you Bloom where you are planted! or something like that... I dont know if you are giving the party yourself.. or your new parents are... so you could word it accordingly.

Another idea,, kinda cutesy.. but fun,, would be storks.. with GIANT bundles.. with your lil faces sticking out... with a comment like.. Who says what the stork brings HAS to be tiny? Just a couple of ideas.

Sounds wonderful regardless. Perhaps I am sensitive about this as my wonderful mom (81 now) was in an orphanage from 8 til she was 16... and never got adopted.

Ok, here goes the goose bumps again! I am so happy for you two!

  5. cassie, that is awesome! i always love to hear when older kids get adopted.

i think many have giving you great ideas. but, if you want something else, i can forward you my son's email and maybe he can help you out. he does graphic design and loves this kind of stuff... email me if you're interested.

    take care and congrats.

  6. You could do a floral invite that says

    Our family is growing

Please join us in the celebration of our new forever family

    date

    time

    location

  7. WOO HOO!!! Congratulations!!!!

My suggestion is to go for a "new baby" type theme. After all you are new childern to your parents.

We celebrate my son's adoption every year. We got him as a foster child when he was 7 months old and were able to adopt him just before his 2nd birthday. He will be four in March.

  8. I have no brilliant ideas, but I thought Andraya's suggestion was great. I just wanted to say congratulations -- what a wonderful thing!

ETA: Ah, that would be Spanky's suggestion that I think is great.

  9. Is it to celebrate the adoption??? If it is how about trying to take pictures of you guys with your family and making that the cover. If you are good with photo editing programs you could take a couple pictures and make some really fun designs.

    Have fun

  10. Wow! How great that you are being adopted, you must be sooo excited. Woohoo!

But seriously you are not babies! You are teenagers!

God, can adoptees ever be seen as the ages they are?

    Here is my idea...

Take a photo of you and your sis and another photo of your new family put them side by side with a + sign between them and under the pics put = family.

  11. Wow! A great reason to celebrate!

I don't know how much your adoptive family knows about you. If not much, how about a mystery theme where you and your sister are the "mystery girls"? You could have games or quizzes at the party about what you and your sister like and don't like. The person who has the most right answers could be the winners. A winning prize could be an outing with the two of you.

If your family already knows you well, your party and invites should be about who you are. Your favorite TV show or movie? Your favorite sport? Your favorite activity? Celebrate who you are.

I have to admit that I am not crazy about the baby themes. You are not babies. You are young ladies. Let people know that you are ladies of taste and style!
