Question:

Invitations might be late! What do I DO!?

Ours is a destination wedding, and I'm financially strapped. My FH kept procrastinating on paying for the invitations, and now our wedding's 7 weeks away. We became suspicious of the site that we were going to order from, so we ordered from another, but it's in the UK and the order may take a while to get here(I did put a rush on it) .I've instructed immediate family to spread the word verbally just in case, so that the invites will be a mere formality. I'm hoping everyone can make their reservations before the invitations even get to them. Some already have anyway.

My question is: Will this work, or is there something else I can do? Perhaps send informal notecards to the out-of-town guests?

  1. You haven;t mentioned if you sent save the date cards but even if you didn't I would call everyone on my list and explain the issue. usually destination wedding guest lists are short so calling shouldn't be a huge burden. Send the invitations as soon as they come.

  2. The first answer is correct.  Seven weeks is very late to send an invitation of any kind for a wedding.  People do need time to save money, arrange vacation days at work, buy plane tickets, etc.  I suggest you either get married at the destination site with immediate family only, or just go there on vacation, not get married, and plan a wedding for a later date.

  3. it's already late now for invitations to a destination wedding; people need time to save their own money and plan work vacations and the like to attend a destination wedding; just elope and have a reception when you get back....afterall, that's what destination weddings are, eloping, but wanting to do it with all the frills....
