Question:

Invite Non-Yahoo members to join a group?

I am trying to set up a private group that can only be accessed by approved members. I have sent out ~20 invites to my email list but most are not receiving it and others are complaining that they can't get in because when they select "Join the Group" blue button they are required to set up a yahoo account. Can't someone go to the main page of a group and JOIN w/o having an account with Yahoo? Thanks!!

  1. if you approve membership, it's called restricted. when people refer to it as private, generally they mean it's closed memebrship (invites only)

    a few issues here-

    1) yahoo invites are glitchy and have been since Feb- some get them many do not so a closed group is really stuck when the only way to gain members is through invites and then they do not work

    A) if they do get the invites, there are two choices that members are obviously missing the second choice, which in fact is easy to miss since getting a Yahoo Account is much bolder than anything else

    2) you do not need a yahoo account to join a YGroup, however they will not get the web features of the group like files- links and so on.

if your group is not closed memebrship - those members can send an e-mail to the subscribe@yahoo which is located at the bottom of your group- an e-mail will come back with still those two choices of joining
