Invited to dinner at a Thai home?

What do we take with us? Wine? Flowers? Anything?

Wine is always good, because the food might be hot and spicy and it will help wash it down.  Flowers won't be too much use here.  Maybe bring some chocolates or even turkish delight or something - it is a pleasant gesture and good for sweetening the palate. They also eat a lot of sour and fishy things that are strong tasting so this should help. Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much, Thai food is very tasty.

It is not expected that you bring anything to a Thai home when invited to dinner.  You may bring flowers if you like.  I would not recommend wine since most wines do not go well with food that is very spicy.  Most Thais like their hard drinks and beer, so a bottle of brandy or fine scotch would be appreciated by most Thai men.  You might also want to bring a sweet desert as an alternative to liquor.

You should also be aware that Thais take off their shoes inside their houses.  I would recommend that you wear shoes without laces so you can take off your shoes easier.
