Inzamam told me to just relax and enjoy my game, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 – Cricket News Update
The out-of-favour experienced Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, on Wednesday shared that the newly-appointed batting consultant, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383 has advised him to ‘just relax and play his natural game’ and stop thinking about any external pressure regarding his poor form of late.
"Inzi bhai told me to stop thinking about any outside pressures and just relax and enjoy the game, especially my batting," Afridi told media reporters after playing an impressive 92-run knock during a one-day practice match at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Wednesday.
Inzamam, one of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Saturday, December 22, 2012.
"When he first came to the camp, I thought he would be telling me about the technique and batting but he didn't say anything regarding that." said Afridi. "[But] he said there is nothing wrong with my batting and I only need to get my confidence back and the best way to do it is to go and play my natural game," he went on to add.
The 32-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder has endured an extended lean patch over the last two years, failing to deliver both with bat and ball. In his last 16 One Day International appearances, he has amassed a mere tally of 182 runs, with only one half century in it. He also failed to impress much with his leg-spin during the period, and as a consequence, the veteran lost his place in the national ODI squad for the India tour, he has been retained in the T20 squad though.
His outings in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 drew severe criticism from Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity, with the majority blaming the out-of-form all-rounder for the team’s eventual semi-final exit. In the marquee tournament Afridi scored just 30 runs in six matches, and took four wickets at 42.75.
Afridi admitted that he had been under pressure for a while now.
"I’ve been under pressure for a while now and I want to get over it," said the 32-year-old hard-hitting batsman, who is best known for scoring the fastest ODI century, off just 37 balls. "I’ve stopped thinking about what will happen next. I just want to go and do my best and enjoy my game," concluded the struggling all-rounder.
