Inzamam-ul-Haq baffled to see Kamran Akmal batting down the order – Cricket News
Disappointed with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 and said that the wicketkeeper/batsman should have been batting
in the top order.
After a lacklustre performance in the mega event, there is immense criticism on some senior players, especially Akmal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Farhat-c64218.
While speaking to Pakpassion, the former middle-order batsman said that batting has been Kamran’s strength over the years as he has played numerous match-winning knocks for the country and most of those innings have come at the
top of the order. Inzamam is furious with the decision of the team management to demote the cricketer from Lahore in the batting order.
“Kamran’s batting has been the reason for his selection. He has at times made some vital scores, but I was baffled why he was batting down the order at the Champions Trophy,” he said. “Kamran’s most effective performances in the
shorter formats have been made when he was batting up the order. Those individuals that moved Akmal down the order have some questions to answer.”
The 31-year-old cricketer batted down the order in the opening two fixtures against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Birmingham.
The former skipper further added that every batsman needs a stable position in the batting order; otherwise, it gets extremely tough to perform.
“One day you are batting up the order and making runs and then suddenly you are moved down to the No. 7 position. It was mystifying to me and cannot have been easy for Akmal either,” he added.
Having made his international debut in 2002, it took Akmal a couple of years to cement his place in the national team. With 11 hundreds and 27 fifties under his belt at the highest stage of the game, Akmal has been a match-winner
for the Green Shirts over the years, although his wicketkeeping has let the national team down on a number of occasions in past.
