http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and feels that the batsmen let the whole country down.
The Green Shirts entered the tournament as one of the favourites because of their strong bowling line-up. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and company failed to live up to the expectations and returned back home without a single victory.
While talking to Pakpassion, Inzamam, who is arguably the greatest batsman produced by the country, slammed the performance of the Pakistan team in the mega event and said that some of the players did not justify their place in the national side.
“It was a huge disappointment. The performances did not do justice to the players representing Pakistan at the tournament,” said former middle-order batsman. “I think a number of players performed well below expectation and some of them did not do justice
to the Pakistan shirt during the tournament.”
The former cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819 said that he had immense confidence on Pakistan’s bowling attack but the batsmen did not give them enough totals to defend in the global competition.
“Looking at the bowling attack Pakistan took into the tournament, I think we were well within our rights to expect the team to do well. My inclination before the Champions Trophy was that if the batsmen could give the bowlers some half-decent scores of 220
or more, then the bowlers would do the rest,” he added.
In the presence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Jamshed-c78752, the whole batting line-up looked completely out of
sorts in the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan’s next assignment in international cricket is a limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Umar
Akmal expected to return to the national squad. The selection committee, headed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980, is likely to announce the squad this week.
