Ion paintball gun / Tippmann 98 custom paintball gun?

Question

I was wondering, How much would a Ion paintball gun cost and how much would a Tippmann 98 cost? Is there a better gun, or does it depend on how I play? I've heard ION is faster , lighter and breaks alot but The Tippmann is Heavy, slow but its really tough? Which should I buy. I've also heard both are upgradable. If so What are some good parts I can get for not a whole lot of money but not cheap parts. Thanks.

***There are many differences between these two guns...

1. Ion is electric and Tippmann 98c is not

2. ion is $165 at action village right now (sale going on.. idk when it's over)

3. there are so many better guns out there..... but they can get very pricy

Everything depends on how you play. Some pump players can take out people using the fastest semi guns.

for woodsball, a tippmann is enough and good because of it durability

for speedball, faster (electronic) guns are the right choice

4. slr(25bps) is faster than ion(17 bps)... if you plan on shooting that fast...

5. Ion can be MORE upgradable... basically, you can change almost everything on the ion... not really sure about the SLR

it depends on what style of paintball you are playing (speedball or woodsball)

Ion, Tippmann, and SLR and all good guns, but if you like paintball, bet something like an invert mini :)

between the ion and slr(never used slr... btw) i would recommend the slr. the ion is a good gun, but the slr features seem better

Ok first question to ask your self is what type of paintball are you going to play? If you are going to play a lot of woods ball get a tippman. if you are going to play speed ball then get a lighter gun.

But DON'T get an ion they break so much and are not worth their price. you should getsomethingg like a pmr(proto matrix rail) or thesimilarr slg(super light gun)they are both made by proto. the ion doesn't come with a clamping feed neckneitherr does the slg but the slg is better because the only up grade it needs right away is the feed neck(like $25)the ion needs a lot more upgrades i don't know all of them if you want to see some reasons go here:

but remember for the guns like the slg, pmr, or the mini you are gonna need an HPA tank(compressed air or nitrogen they are the same thing)
