1. Don't worry>>> he cannot get any more harmful than sending you viruses or trojans. Ensure that you have up to date AV and AntiSpyware installed on your PC and you have nothing to fear.

    What is an IP?

Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods and look something like 127.0.0.1.

Since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet.

If you want to alter your IP address, follow the link below>>

PLEASE DO SO AT YOUR RISK !!!!

  2. He couldn't get your ip address from youtube, youtube aren't allowed to give them out or store them.

If he did have your ip address, if he was smart enough (he doesnt sound too smart mind), he could find out what company you use for your internet and where in the world you are. Not your exact address, may be a state but no where near enough info to do anything with.

you do nothing, laugh at the guy may be. If someone was really smart and wanted to get back at you, they could do more than threaten you with your ip address because not all ip addresses are reliable, mine changes every 2 days or so because of my ISP and some people go through proxies which mask the ip addresses.

If this kid was in front of you, the equivalent he could say is I know your surname/hair colour/type of shoe you wear, watch out I'm going to change your name/hair colour/type of shoe you wear. Impossible? so is what he's telling you. Plus he wouldnt be able to do anything to your internet plan. He doesn't know your name, address, age...etc meaning your internet service provider would probably tell him where to go even if he sent the ip address to them.

  3. I would not contact or reply to anything from this person.

if he you you make any personal threats of violence, that party can be arrested for assault and go to jail.

Save all emails, or whatever docs you have. Report to u-tube and your ISP.

    If serious, report to police.

  4. People say that all the time to scare each other. He doesn't really have your IP address. I bet he's just some 12 year old little punk who feels like a big man on the computer. If he somehow finds a way to contact you, report him to Youtube, your ISP, and if necessary, the police.

  5. I swear, every year around the DEF CON all kinds of little e-thugs come out the woodwork and start flexing their nuts all over the damned interwebz.

Anyone who CAN do something with your IP is not spending their days getting into it with random people on YouTube, no offense...

Also, he doesn't have your IP address. Not from YouTube...the US Federal Court system had to subpoena that record...if they can't get it easily, I'm sure this nimrod doesn't have it. It's not as though he's hacking into their database or anything (which is where your IP is...it isn't public info).

Anyhoo, tell the script kiddie to g'head and do his worst. Odds are, he'll send you an email laced with a virus from 1997 that he downloaded somewhere on AOL.

  6. How? There are numerous ways. It's not a big deal.

It's an address, not some magical hacking tool. Relax.

Boo-hoo. He made fun of you. Get over it. You're probably both idiots.

ADDITION: Proxies aren't a big challenge. I broke Tor a few times just as POC. They won't protect you, there's nothing to protect. It's just an address.

  7. Friggin' losers arguing about stupid videos. There needs to be an age limit and an IQ check put on that site.I highly doubt he was able to obtain ur IP address.

  8. if he has ur IP address , then he can remote access ur PC anytime, meaning he can enter it and mess with it. how he got ur IP is another question, the thing is a COMPUTER will always have a private ip address, the ip address that he has is most likely your public ip address and it will be very hard for him to hack ur PC if thats the case. he will not find out your IP address simply by chatting on youtube.thats impossible. really you have nothing to worry about. for you to change your ip address, all you hvae to do is reset your mdoem and login back to the network. thats all. and whatever ip address he has, if its true that he ahs ur ip address, will be changed

  9. You IP address is just a number use to identify your computer on the internet so that it can communicate with other computers. There is no real threat to your computer or you self by this person having your IP address even if he used it to find your location it would real only narrow it down to the city you live in. You IP is public every time you go to a website your IP is most likely logged on there web server anyway there could be thousands of people who have seen it. If you have a router, or a fire wall there isn't much that can be done to your computer as far as being hacked. I would also like to point out that proxies do work for web surfing when the web server logs your IP it logs the proxies IP and not your Public IP it will not protect you from most criminal investigations, because proxies keep log of who connects to them. The other thing you should do when some one makes a rude comment is just ignore them they do it for the attention, if it is your youtube site just delete rude or degrading comments.

To the poster above you say you have POC of tracking Tor proxy connections I would be interested in seeing the white paper that you have wrote on this subject. If you would mind adding a link to in your post or directing me to a web page where it is stored.
