she wants to buy this stuff

and i told her you have to have a perscription

and you have to be an age

but shes saying no

They rarely use ipacac any longer due to the damage that it can do to the esophogus, for that reason, for poisonings, they use hydration and charcoal. One of the reasons why they put it behind the counter is to prevent people from abusing it. When I worked for poison control, one of the things we had to do, was to drink Ipacac one time, so we knew what to tell people that called in... It wasn't something I want to repeat..

You can by it over the counter, im not sure the age limit. The reason why it isnt recommended is because people have died from using it for weight loss, because it damages not only your esophogaus but your heart also. It is only for emergencies, but some stores sell it or products containing the essential ingredient for a first aid product.
