Background:

I am using my Iphone 3g to connect to my VNC using an application called VNC Lite. I am running a VNC server using TightVNC. I registered an address for my IP using DYNDNS and I have their updater tool so it keeps my IP and the address the same.

I have my VNC setup to a private port 50000 range and its nice and forwarded. I also have a name for my ip address I registered at DYNDNS.org. NOW when I test it on my local network using a VNC program on my Iphone both the machines IP and the name registered by DYNDNS can connect, no problem. When I go to the normal phone 3g network and try to connect through my DYNDNS name it says "Error Cannot Connnect to Host" but if I switch it back to local its fine. I have used DYNDNS port checker and it says my port is working fine...what else is there I can do? Am I missing something?

  1. Here's an easy walk through setting up Mocha VNC Lite with the iPhone. It's tailored to Leopard, but just follow the same port forwarding numbers in TightVNC and it should work.
