  1. No doubt, always like that even notebooks and pc.

  2. you should check out this site where you can get it for free

  3. The $200 you saw on the Apple website is the price you have to pay once you get a 2-year contract with AT&T (in the US) or in their respective networks (in other countries). POSTPAID in other words. It is much expensive if you buy just the phone or PREPAID kit. Source: The terms and conditions found on the Apple website plus I spoke with a sales person in AT&T Florida over the phone last month to inquire.

With Globe, you can even get the 8G iphone for free, if you subscribe to the the postpaid Plan 4999 with a 2-year lock-up.

Also, the exchange rate between the USD and the PHP made the slight difference between the prices.

  4. other than the tariff of importing that iPhone 3G to the Philippines, the catch of the $199 iPhone 3G in the US is of paying 2 years worth of postpaid AT&T subscription fees so one pretty much ends up with Php50000+ (converted to pesos) in the long run. it's nothing but a marketing strategy that targets those who are desperate to have it.

Globe Telecom has a promo of giving an iPhone 3G for free as long as a subscriber commits to the Php4999 line plan for 2 years.
