Basically I've lost all my music when I tried to transfer it from one laptop to another. I've tried everything to allow windows to show the ipod in my computer to access the files. I've changed the drive names, shown all hidden files, 'the 5 rs', ended the itunes helper etc in task manager and nothing works, i've tried to do the registry thing aswell but even though iv changed the settings to allow permission it still wont let me delete the necessary. i've tried all the apple support pages & none of them work either. its driving me mad!

  1. You cannot transfer music from your iPod to a computer without having the music already in iTunes or by using a separate software. I recommend using the TuneTools software. It'll allow you to put all of the music back on to your computer. Plus, it'll let you organize your music/photos/videos better and let you transfer directly to another iPod. You can pick it up at your local Best Buy :)

  2. You can't transfer your songs. I've tried it more than once, with a few different computers. It's just not possible.

  3. Sorry but ITunes doesn't allow you to do that. BUT all you have to do is login to your account on Itunes and download all your songs again and for free. If that doesn't work for some reason transfer the songs using a USB portable hard drive!

  4. That happened to me as well (grrr) But it's so you don't share music and people have to pay for it.

All my cd's that I'd downloaded where wiped,When I switched from one computor to another. The only stuff left was the albums I' actually brought from I tunes, If there also gone get in contact with apple.

  5. ALL you need to do is COPY the entire itunes folder from the old machine to the new one and  start itunes.

then drag the /My Documents/My Music/Itunes/Itunes Music folder onto the Music Library Icon on itunes and it will rebuild the library.

remember that itunes is the master music store for your music not an ipod.

you don't need registry edits or anything just the latest version of itunes installed and the files copied onto your computer. you dont drop music onto the ipod directly but let itunes manage it for you!

  6. I tried to do this on my iPod mini. After revealing all hidden files and folders I browsed through the different folders and eventually found lots of folders containing about 30 tracks each. I could then copy these to my computer - but the names were all messed up - evidently the iPod was using some kind of code. Still the tracks played so it was only a matter of renaming them. By the sound of it it's more complicated than this with newer iPods so I'm not sure. It's worth remembering though that things are rarely permanently deleted from a hard drive so it might be worth trying some data recovery programs and looking it to that route more.
