Ipod Video reads Please Wait! Very Low Battery

I just finished replacing the audio jack for a fifth generation Ipod Video (30Gb)

After doing so. After assembling everything back together I turned the ipod on to recieve a sad face.

However. After a while it would not turn on. I plugged in to the USB Connector.

Now I recieve this message "Please Wait" Very Low Battery.

I have followed the instructions to reset the ipod using the Select and Menue buttons. However once I hold it down for eight seconds it goes dim, then the "Please Wait Very Low Battery" Screen reappears!!!

Can someone please help me??

  1. Did you also replace the battery?  90% or the time that will help.  Also try reseating the battery flex cable into the connector.

Also, try charging overnight on an external charger if you have one, or just leaving it plugged into the USB port.

If you damaged the battery connector on the board, that could cause it too.  I repair and refurb iPods, and should be able to repair the connector if that's the case.  Contact me by clicking on my userpic if i can help you, even just to talk you through the problem.

It's a fairly common problem, but re-seating the battery cable may help - or simply replacing the battery.  (several vendors on ebay sell batts in the $5 range or so as you may know)

[rules say offers to repair are "legal" as long as they concern the topic at hand]
