Ipod adapter for bmw 328i coupe?

i just got a bmw 328i coupe, fully loaded, and it said that it has an ipod adapter...but i didnt see it with the car..theres just a jack for it. is the adapter itself supposed to come with the car or am i supposed to buy the adapter separately and what bmw meant was they included the jack for it? and if i have to buy separately where can i buy it?

I just purchased a pre-owned 2008 328i and have been trying to figure out all night how to hook up my ipod.  There was a USB connector cable in the glove box, but not a Y-adapter cable.  I'm wondering if I got the wrong cable? If I was supposed to purchase this cable it would have been nice of them to let me know so that I am equipped with everything I need. If anything this is just frustrating me.
