Ipod apple store repair???????????

Question

my sisters ipod got water damage she put it in a bowl of rice and it seemed to work ok etc. but now the light does not come on at all.

does the apple store do repairs if i bring it in to them?. i bought it at xmas for her and i dont think i still have the receipt does this matter? thanks

they will do repairs...but depending on the damage it might be cheaper to buy a new one (especially if you do not have Apple Care - ie. the apple version of insurance- on the device)
