I am thinking of going to get my teeth cleaned and then an exam. I am wondering if I can listen to my ipod while getting my teeth cleaned. The noise gets me tense. And listening to music calms me down. Can i listen to it?

  1. Of course you can. I remember last year when I was getting my braces, put on, I had my iPod with me in the waiting room, and the orthodontist comes out and says, "You can listen to it while we put your braces on!" So yeah I'm pretty sure you can. The dentists are going to be working on your mouth, and it'd be hard for some earphones to interfere with that. Lol.

  2. Yea why wouldnt you I do it all the time just turn it down a lil so if they want you to do sumthing with ur mouth u can hear them

  3. Shouldnt be a problem at all. Now a days dental offices have all kinds of things to keep you busy while they do their work, from video games to movies, so bringing your IPOD, is perfectly fine, just let them know you'll be listening to it so they dont talk and you cant hear them

  4. should be fine!  I need to try that too.   When I got my root canal, they gave me goggles with head phones, and I watched Friends on them ... helped soo much.

  5. I think so...

  6. Absolutley. When you get there, just tell them, "Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I get tense at these visits and I'd like to drown out the sound." We have people do it ALL the time. Sometimes I even offer my iPod to tense patients to calm them down. =]

  7. Funny you should mention that!

    I just got home from the dentist about 5 minutes ago, (6 cavities filled...) and my dentist actually brought a large ipod speaker into the room and let me listen to mine.

    He says its a nice distraction from the dental work.

  8. probably yes lol. i just wouldnt want my ipod getting sprinkles of water when they cleanse your mouth. just make sure its ok with the dentist or whoever else works there. at my orthodontist's office, they let you play with rubiks cube and small game things while getting your teeth fixed, so im sure itll be fine since the dentist and orthodontist is almost the same?i understand what you mean, i hate the noise as well, (it gives me goosebumps) o;

    hope this answers ur question!

    xoxo

  9. I had a root canal and listened to my mp3 player the whole time.  I kept it at a low volume just in case I needed to hear something though.  It really did help me relax.

    I'm pretty sure that having it in for a cleaning would be just fine.  I'm guessing that the only thing they might need to tell you is to open your mouth wider.
