Ipod connection problem

when connecting my ipod to my computer it states, USB not recognised or unkown USB- or something similar.... without buying a new cable anything i can do?

i was just having problems connecting my touch.

i keep saying that the usb malfunctioned or something along that line.

and i couldn't figure out what to do with it

then i switched out my cords because i have several lying around.

and that worked.

so if your experiencing the same thing i just was, then no, theres no way around it without replacing your cord.
