My IPod has completely frozen! i have tried everything, I have re-set it, fully charged it and done everything it says on the Apple website to try and get it working again.

It isn't fully broken as it still lights up when i push the hold button on and off. Has anyone any ideas on how to fix it? like i said i have tried re-setting, fully charging, running the battery down and it is still frozen.

Thanks for your help.

  1. You have to push the centre button down until the pod goes off.  This will re-set it (without losing everything off it!).  It happens sometimes and it's like Apple don't want to admit it as this trick doesn't exist in the instruction booklets

  2. hmm, mine did this too but holding the middle and bottom buttons together solved it right away, I suggest taking it back to where you bought it and ask for assistance there. If it's within guarantee they should be able to replace it or repair it for you. good luck

  3. 1/If it's a material problem, return it to them so they can fix it

2/But first of all try to make a restore on iTunes, most of time that fix all the problems

    good luck

  4. Hi Krazy,

At the risk of getting you cross I assume you have not accidentally moved the lock switch to "on" have you ?

Also have you tried giving it a good talking to, or even singing to it to give it the right idea ?

  5. if it doesn't boot up (the menu's appear) and you have tried everything including putting it into disk mode and using disk utility to check and erase it. if it doesn't work or connect how can you restore it as that requires a working and recognizable ipod..

Following all the steps from   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320

then the chances are that your HARD DRIVE has gone and needs to be replaced. if its under warranty then fine if not time to buy a new one!

  6. Yup you hold the middle and bottom buttons at the same time until it goes off, and actually Apple does recommend this trick and is aware of thise common occurence with the IPods. That's the first thing they tell you to try if you go to the help section through Itunes, and then choose IPod help.
