Ipod nano uploading

Question

iPod nano 4MB appears to have free memory but i am unable to upload new songs from iTunes. It seems that I can delete, then re-add existing songs but this may simply be removing and re-adding the address. I am tempted to try resetting to factory setting and starting again - but then I may end up with nothing in the memory! can you adviseThanks Fran
