I downloaded some apps from itunes and I see them under the applications tab in my library, but I have no clue how to get them onto my ipod touch. I tried dragging and dropping into the ipod touch tab, but nothing happens. I've been struggling with this for days, please help

  1. I think the reason you can't sync any applications is that you do not have the new 2.0 firmware. Only the 2.X firmwares have the function of adding applications to the iPod so if you're on like 1.1.5 and you bought some apps, then go buy the new 2.X firmware and you'll be able to use your apps.

    Have fun!

  2. Hi,

Here's what you do step by step:

    Bring up Itunes

    Connect your Ipod

Go to the ipod information screen where it says "your name's ipod"

    Click on the application's tab

    Click the "All Applications" Bubble

    Do not change the screen

Click the silver "sync" button in the bottom right hand corner.

Give it a few minutes to sync.

    There you go!

Post if you have a question.

    Hope this helps you.

    Hi again,

Once your Ipod is connected, click on your ipod (located under the devices). This will change the screen to a picture of your ipod touch, memory, etc. The very last tab to the right in blue says "Applications" click on that. **Also very important** Do you have the 2.0 iphone software upgrade? This may be the reason why you aren't seeing the Applications tab. Perhaps the Applications tab is only shown when your ipod is updated with the newest software. **You Must Have the 2.0 Software Upgrade inorder to use/view the applications** So make sure you have that. And get back to be.

  3. You use itunes!

Simply dragging music onto an ipod does NOT make that music playable it then acts as hard disk. To make the music playable you MUST use itunes to sync with it as only itunes can put the music files in the correct file names (not the same as on the computer) in hidden folders and create the hidden indexes for them to be playable.

if they appear in iTunes you simply plug in the ipod then in its tab in itunes you will see an Applications Tab.. you then select what you want to sync as by default itunes doesn't sync anything unless you tell it to!! same with pictures and calnedar and contacts and email etc you have to tell itunes what to syn  using the ipods own tab settings as itunes is the master application that can have many iPods on it not the other way round!
