Ipod touch app annoyingness?

Question

OK well I was at a wifi hot spot the other day

so I decided to update my apps on my ipod through wifi

well I didn't have time to update all of them and one was still in the process of updating

well I went away and it did stop updating

but it stayed on my homepage

just a blank Icon with a loading bar that never fills up

I tried taking it off by syncing my ipod

but it didn't work

I also tried taking the app off in my library but it didn't work

it's getting annoying

is there any way to take it off?
