  1. I think the only difference is that the iPhone 3g has slightly faster internet than the iPod touch.  I think you should buy the touch personally though.

    Hope I helped (:

  2. When bought for use on ATT cellular network, the iPhone accesses the internet either using the cell towers, or by connecting to a WiFi hotspot. The monthly fee is what allows you to access the internet using the cell tower network... whether or not you can access via WiFi depends on if you own the WiFi hotspot, or if the hotspot access is free. Some places charge for use of their hotspot.

The iPod Touch *cannot* access the internet using cell towers the way that the iPhone can, but the iPod Touch *can* connect to WiFi hotspots the same way that an iPhone can.

FYI, for those folks who travel a lot and want high speed "3G" internet access while on the road for their laptops or their gadgets like an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, or a Sony PSP/Mylo/PS3, or Nintendo Wii/DS or Nokia 770/800/810 tablet, an Archos 605 WiFi, or even the Chumby... take a look at this article:

its also a good way to get "3G" speeds on any iPhone! and faster than AT&T!
