Ipod touch!!!! quick!!?

Question

I bought the ipod touch and im trying to download songs. but when i turn it on, it doesnt have the menu, instead, this picture comes out,theres a pic of the usb cable on the bottom, and the music icon on the top. so i thought it meant to connect the usb cable into ma computer, so i did. but still, when i turn it on, it doesnt work. HELP ME!!

make sure you ave itunes running.    It should recognize your ipod and get you started.  

follow the instructions on your quick start guide.

turn it off.

plug it in to your computer.

leave it for a couple hours.

come back and try it over

So it a USB cable on the bottom and an Itunes like icon on the top. That means your Ipod Touch is in restore mode. You need to install some type of firmware. Go to youtube, some videos give a link for free firmware (kind of like OS for an Ipod). Just search for "Ipod Touch Firmware..." The latest firmware is 2.0.1, which you have to pay for. You can try out firmware 1.1.4 (I'm sure you can find it somewhere online). Once you downloaded it, open up iTunes. If you have a computer that runs on Windows, find the "Restore" button in iTunes. Hold SHIFT and click on the Restore button. Find where you downloaded your firmware and it will hopefully fix your problem.

If you decide to download firmware 2.0.0 or 2.0.1, then you have to make sure you iTunes is the most updated version (I think 7.7-something).

You must connect it with iTunes. Install iTunes from the disk that came with the iPod. It should then update your iPod, allowing you to use it.
