Ipod wont play on xbox 360

all my songs are in mpeg-audio file??? i have heard that it has to be mp3 or mp4 whats the deal??? i have already downloaded the microsoft player update and i connect my ipod and it wont work??? my ipod is 30gb 5th generation......

im not sure if an ipod is supposed to work on a xbox...

i just put all my music on a jump drive to play it on the xbox
