Impressed by Haris Sohail’s consistent performances at the domestic level, Iqbal Qasim, the Chief Selector of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), is hopeful that the left-handed batsman will deliver the goods in international cricket
as well.
Since making his first-class debut in 2007, the left-hander from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 has been a prolific run-getter in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and different national tournaments.
In the 53 first-class matches Haris has played so far, the stylish batsman has scored 3693 runs at an extremely impressive average of 52.75 runs per innings, with the help of 11 centuries and 22 fifties.
The 23-year-old cricketer was selected in Pakistan’s T20 squad for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746
and the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012.
While speaking exclusively to Pakpassion, the former left-arm spinner was all praise for the youngster and said that he is extremely impressed by Sohail’s consistency, which is a rare ability in Pakistani batsmen. Haris is expected
to be a part of the national team in future and Qasim hopes that he will do well at the world-stage as well.
The Chief Selector also appreciated the performances of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Waqas-c43621, the left-handed batsman from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.
He expressed, “There have been a few that have shown some promise. In particular Haris Sohail has really impressed everyone. He's been performing well on a consistent basis this season and we are very optimistic that Haris will perform
well in international cricket when his chance arrives. In addition Ali Waqas has performed well and we have been impressed by him.”
In the bowling department, Iqbal said that some of the discarded international bowlers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983, have done well in the President’s Trophy 2012-13.
“Amongst the quick bowlers Anwar Ali has improved a great deal and has done well. Wahab Riaz has shown some glimpses of his best form which is heartening and in addition Mohammad Irfan of KRL has bowled with consistency,” said the former
Test cricketer.
