Ireland: Pros and Cons?

Hello everyone!

Please explain to me the good and bad of living in Ireland in your opinion, give reasons why you feel this way as well.

Please remain respectful, and give logical reasons of why something is a good or bad aspect, not "just because".

  1. as a visitor there many times:

    Pros:

    Lovely people

    Spectacularly beautiful countryside

    Good golf courses

    Wonderful beaches (but too cold for much swimming!)

    Good food

    Guinness

    Rich heritage and history

    Great sports country

    Cons:

    Too expensive now

    Dublin can be a bit dangerous at night

    I love Ireland but it's just too dear for the visitor these days.

    friendly people

    relaxed attitude

    great place to raise kids... excellent schools and universities

    relatively low crime

    great pubs & clubs

    loads of sport to go to

    beautiful countryside

    cons

    too many immigrants

    too religious

    awful healthcare system

    you need a car to get anywhere and the roads are terrible

    work options on many careers are limited or only in dublin

    People

    Country

    Sheep

    Warm welcomes

    Donegal

    Cons:

    The way people presume we're all alcoholics.

  4. -Good education system, which is also free

    -Lovely countryside

    -Relatively safe country to live in

    -Awful health system - you could be waiting over a year for tests

    -Extremely expensive - for example the Apple iPhone costs twice as much here as in the UK

    -Very bad public transport

    -Media and government are very Dublin-centred, meaning the rest of the country is often neglected, especially the west.
