  3. There were actually three Irishmen making their International debuts in that match. The most famous was the great Full-back Tom Kiernan who went on to play a record 54 times for Ireland and also captained the British Lions on their 1968 tour to South Africa. Also getting their first caps were Walter Bornemann on the Right wing and Barton McCallan at Hooker.
