Nepal Under-19s 187 (46 overs) v Ireland Under-19s 175 (46 overs) -
Nepal Under-19s won by 10 runs (D/L method)
Nepal U19 beat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 by 10 runs after posting a tally of 187 runs in the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup Qualifiers, in a match that was reduced to 46 overs due to rain at Bready Cricket Club, Magheramason, Bready.
After winning the toss, Ireland chose to field first aiming to restrict the opposition to a meagre total as the decision to bowl first on a murky morning seemed like a good option as the weather was clearly not feasible for batting at that point of time
in the day.
Ireland made early inroads when on the first delivery of the second over they managed to dismiss Nepal opener Subash Khakurel, who after scoring five runs off seven deliveries was caught behind by wicketkeeper Niall David S Hodgins off the bowling of Shane
Getkate.
A delivery later http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naresh-c78656 Budayair, also went back to the pavilion without changing the score board. By this time, Nepal were two wickets down with only five runs on the board.
Skipper Prithu Baskota then came on the field as he tried to provide commendable support to his opener Sagar Pun, who was losing partners at regular interval. Pun looked in good knick as he exhibited tremendous strokes all around the park.
After playing an innings of 18 runs, Baskota had his stumps uprooted when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GH-Dockrell-c1484 bowled a screaming delivery that rammed in the wickets causing the batsman to walk back to the pavilion.
Rajesh Pulami Magar, then contributed eight runs off 33 deliveries before losing his wicket and Pradeep Airee knocked nine runs off 18 deliveries before falling to his demise as Nepal seemed heading for a disaster.
However, Pun on the other end, continued the batting onslaught as he kept the score board ticking. The batsman lost his wicket after playing an impressive innings of 50 runs off 100 deliveries when he was caught by Getkate off the bowling of Dockrell.
Then later in the innings, Krishna Karki and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Kumar-Vishvakarma-c83341 contributed 35 and 38 runs to help their side post a tally which was never going to be comfortable target to defend on a given day.
Coming out to bat, Ireland looked full of confidence which they had gained from beating Canada a day earlier in the tournament, however, they were shocked when after putting only six runs on the board they lost their opener Adam http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Berry-c47842 on nil when he was
clean bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bhavaraju-Avinash-c47993 Karn.
Opener Jason B http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 der Merwe then played a knock of 29 runs while in the middle-order it was skipper George Henry Dockrell, who played a fine innings of 55 runs off 86 deliveries before losing his wicket while Adam Coughlan went back to the dressing room
before his captain after scoring 48 runs off 86 deliveries. Apart from these batsmen, the rest of the Irish squad failed to bat against the opposition as the whole team fell in the 46th over after posting 175 runs on the board.
GH Dockrell was named as the Man of the Match for completing a half century and taking three wickets in the game.
