Ireland- What is traditiional irish clothing that could be commonly found in America?

I have a social studies project where I need to dress in Irish clothing- is there anything that I could find in my house that could qualify as Irish?

Ireland is just like America for style. We're normal.

Tracksuit bottoms, Ugg boots etc. anything normal really.

Strange question. Em, in Ireland, we wear the same as most other people. I suppose an umbrella or a raincoat would be used more here than in other places. Regarding "traditional", I assume you mean the made-up stuff for old films? I don't know, if you're after what was in them, then I suggest a large shawl which you can put over your head or an Aran jumper, something that I actually have.

Hi, I am American with Irish background....the old common stereotype in the US was the heavy aran sweater/jumper popularised by the Clancy Brothers in the 1960s. They were very popular, so mainstream America thought that heavy sweaters were the Irish "thing". Like most stereotypes - not all that accurate. I have one that an Aunt knitted - you can have it if you want - it weighs a ton!

Irish people dress just like we do in the US, sometimes more so. There is no strong national clothing item like the Scottish kilt. You could wear a U2 t-shirt if you're desperate.

Slipstream hit the nail on the head with the Aran Jumper - that is probably what a lot of people think of in America. I actually had one when I was a child, my granny knit me it lol. but you almost never see people wearing them.

We really dress the same as in America.

The only other thing I can possibly suggest is an Irish dancing outfit? I have attached a pic.
