Despite a 3-wicket haul by Elena Tice, the Ireland Women were unable to best their opponents, and the Bangladesh Women kicked off the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 Tri-Nation Women's T20 Series with a narrow 4-wicket win with one ball remaining at the Clontarf Cricket
Club Ground in Dublin on August 28.
The Ireland Women won the toss and elected to bat first, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cecelia-Nora-Isobel-Mary-Joyce-c49365 (7) opening for their side. The two managed to get the opening stand up to 16, before Cecelia Joyce was caught out by
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jahanara-Alam-c65295 off Khadija Tul Kubra in the 4th over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Isobel-Mary-Helen-Cecilia-Joyce-c64615 fared better, racking up an individual score of 18, in addition to setting up a 27-run stand with Shillington,
which got their side up to 53 before Isobel Joyce was sent packing by Jahanara Alam in the 11th over.
Kim Garth (15*) also accompanied Shillington at the pitch for an 18-run stand after which the latter made her exit at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rumana-Ahmed-c87106 in the 17th over. Garth, however, went on to establish an unbeaten 21-run stand with Laura Delany (11*),
which got the team up to a final total of 92 by the end of 20 overs, at the expense of 4 wickets.
While the Irish side faltered through their innings, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shukhtara-c90152 Rahman and Sanjida Islam were both dismissed on duck by the 3rd over, but skipper Salma
Khatun (41) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lata-Mondal-c72230 (29) who followed, set up a solid 3rd-wicket 66-run stand.
Their partnership got their side up to 71 by the 17th over, after which Tice (3-0-14-3) intervened to send both batters packing, following it up with the wicket of Rumana Ahmed (8) in the 19th over.
By this point, the Bangladesh Women had reached 83 for 5, and needed just minor contributions from Ritu Moni (3) and Farzana Haque (7*) to get them over the finishing line, with the team managing to reach 93 at the expense of 6 wickets, with just one delivery
remaining.
