No one can dispute that Argentina would have had any chance of beating New Zealand or South Africa. Its about time all the dreaming Irishmen & women lay this fantasy to rest.

  1. ok if your judging from that match, not one of the 15 that destroyed england were playing. none of our first team are playing (apart from flannery and he had a great game)

  2. oh, i wouldnt say that one loss means that Ireland has no chance, they were missing most of their frontline players like BOD, the radar boot of Ronan O'Gara and the best lineout jumper in the world in Paul O'Connell...  look at 2003, England got stomped twice in New Zealand before the WC and went on to win it, who knows, this might be the wake up call that they need, Argentina is also a very underrated side that almost beat the All Blacks last year and if not for a late Wilkinson drop goal would have beat the Lions side in their warm up against the South Americans, Ireland is capable of beating any team on any given day IF they play to their potential which they have trouble doing, but they are my dark hores favorites to win but will have to face New Zealand in either the quarters or semis and have never beat the ABs, so no, its not gonna happen this year

  3. wow.... You really are stupid aren't you. saying that because of one game 4 months before the world cup is going to decide who will win, if that's the case then australia doesn't have a hope in h**l of winning, they barely made it past a lowly welsh side!

furthermore, argentina is ranked 6th in the world and Ireland just dropped to 5th so it isn't like they were supposed to be huge underdogs.

If Ireland can play well enough to beat france and take over the first spot in group D (i believe that is what they are in) they may not have to face the allblacks, because i believe second in group D faces the winner of the allblacks pool and that could be France who have performed quite well in the world cup against them.

So Ireland does actually have a good chance to win the world cup.

my vote is going to Ireland, but if not I think that France will win.

  4. what are you talking about, so if one win tells you everything then the italians could have shot, you are being ridiculous

  5. The game on saturday will have absolutely no impact on the World Cup. Neither team had anything like their first 15 playing, futhermore the game was played with an intensity inferior to that of usual test matches. The general reaction to the geme her in ireland that while it was a useful chance for fringe players to stake a place in world cup 30 it was in some ways an insult to hand out international caps for such an encounter. Remember Ireland beat both Australia and South Africa in the Autumn but those results had to be taken in perspective as both teams were missing a number of frontline players, well on saturday ireland were missing all 15 of their first choice players.

To tell the truth Ireland probably only have a minimal chance of winning the RWC but saturday has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with it
