Ireland ready for must win game against Italy - Rugby World Cup News
The Irish side that produced the only upset victory in the ongoing Rugby World Cup against the Wallabies is motivated to thump Italy to secure their berth in the quarter-final stages as Pool toppers. Ireland is currently placed on top of the point’s tables
in Pool C with three wins after three outgoings in the global showpiece. The assistant coach of Ireland, Greg Feek, told the media on September 26 that his side is in good form and is motivated to clinch another victory on October 2.
Ireland is performing above expectation in the current Webb Ellis Trophy and has not lost any match up to date. They started off the RWC campaign slowly but steadily against United States and secured an unimpressive victory. However, they surprised the critics
with a stunning performance against one of the best sides of the world when they beat the Wallabies their second match.
The Irish did not rely on two consecutive victories and toppled the rusty Russians with a greater effort of 62-12 on September 25. They are now just one victory away from passing the first hurdle of the group matches as toppers. They have got a splendid
record against the Italians as they have not lost any match in the last 15 meetings.
Irish assistant coach, Greg Feek, told reporters his side is well aware of the fact that Italy has got plenty of experience in their side and his boys will not underestimate their rivals. He added that, “There is a lot of experience in this group and they
are aware of that. There is some real determination in the squad to prove how good we can be," added the former All Blacks prop. "I think the boys are ready to break out of the old opinions people have had.”
The coach added that, “Italy and ourselves will be going into this game both knowing that a win is a must. There's definitely a buzz from the supporters ... but our minds are on the job.”
Ireland will meet Italy on October 2 in their last match of the RWC pool matches in Dunedin.
