Ireland to host Women's World T20 qualifiers next year – Cricket News Roundup – Part II – December 17, 2012
Ireland will host the next year’s World T20 qualifiers for the 2014 ICC Women’s World T20 championship, to be hosted by Bangladesh, International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement on Monday.
ICC’s global development manager Tim Anderson said that the International Cricket Council was "pleased" to announce Ireland as the host for the 2013 world T20 qualifiers.
"With Ireland's track record of hosting ICC events, we are confident this important qualifying competition will be played in very good conditions, with excellent hospitality," added the ICC official.
The qualifiers will be held sometime in July and August next year. The hosts will be joined by eight other nations, including Sri Lanka and Pakistan, who will battle for the final spot in the major tournament. The other countries that will participate in the qualifiers include Canada, Japan and Netherlands, while the final two spots will be taken by qualifiers from the Africa and Asia regions.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has agreed in principle to send its national team to Pakistan early next year, the board said in a statement on Monday.
"We have in principle agreed to tour Pakistan. It's a commitment made by former BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) president Mustafa Kamal. We are keeping his word," Enayet Husain Siraj, the BCB head of cricket operations, told AFP on Monday. "The tour is subject to security clearance," he added further.
The Tigers were originally scheduled to tour Pakistan in April this year but the BCB called off the tour citing Dhaka High Court’s stay orders due to security concerns. However, now they will tour the troubled country sometime in January next year to play an ODI and a T20 Internationals against the Men in Green.
South Africa have called up all-rounder Ryan McLaren as replacement for injured Wayne Parnell ahead of the three-match T20 series against New Zealand at home.
Parnell, the left-arm pace bowling all-rounder has injured his wrist and has been ruled out of action for at least two weeks. If picked up for the opening T20 International against the Kiwis on Friday, this will be McLaren’s first T20 appearance for the Proteas since October 2010.
South Africa are scheduled to play three T20 Internationals against the Black Caps between December 21 and 26, at Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth respectively.
