One day I'd like to visit Ireland, but don't want to drive. I enjoy walking and biking and riding buses. I hope to find affordable services. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  1. I've been to Ireland (from the U.S.) 3 times and will be going again for my 4th in December.  I have taken the bus everywhere each time and plan to again.  The national bus service Bus Eireann www.buseireann.ie  goes all over the Republic.  For Northern Ireland, Ulster Bus is the main bus system.  I have heard some people complain that the buses are not realiable and offer few routes, but I have never had a problem.  They were always on time and very comfortable when I traveled.  Trains may be another easy way to travel, but I've found them to be a lot more expensive.

  2. I found train services very expensive ,,If you are only going a few miles its good to bike it ,,Buses work good around cities like  Dublin

  3. Ireland has a great intercity bus service, and if you book into a tour, you could easily find yourself seeing all the beautiful sights and scenery from the comfort of a bus.. and  they are all ultra modern ( most have good toilet facilities) bus is by far the cheapest option , and  trains are expensive as the others have mentioned... car hire is ridiculous, and expensive.. and who wants to be concentrating on driving  and missing out on the beauty of the landscape..

    you can try .. www.discoverireland.com

               or        www.bordfailte.ie

they will direct you to some good tours you can go on...
