Ireland v Afghanistan - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 to 46/4 by end of 15th over – Live Score and Update
Afghanistan medium-pacer Shapoor Zadran claimed 3 early wickets to restrict Ireland to 46 for 4 by the end of the 15th over during the ongoing 26th match of the ICC World Cricket League Championship, being played at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, today on July 5.
The points were shared after yesterday’s match was abandoned due to rain, and with a spot in the World Cup at stake, both teams will be looking for a victory in today’s game.
Following a match delay owing to wet outfield, the game finally got underway and Afghanistan won the toss, electing to field first.
Ireland skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PR-Stirling-c2200 opened the innings for their side, but both consumed an excess of runs to rack up mediocre scores.
Stirling was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Shahzad-c77324 an easy catch. Porterfield used up 25 deliveries to bring his individual total up to a mere 7, after which he too was sent back to the pavilion by Shapoor Zadran in the 6th over, caught out by Dawlat Zadran at fine leg.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ed-Joyce-c1417 (10) and Niall O'Brien (6) were next up to bat, but did not manage to bring their side’s innings back on track. They got the team total up to 30 by the 11th over, after which Gulbodin Naib intervened to dismiss Niall O'Brien with a straight and swinging delivery, which brought the tally of wickets for the innings up to three.
Wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Wilson-c1474 was the next player to step up to the crease, but remained just as unimpressive as the rest. He faced a total of 7 deliveries, but managed to score just one run, after which Shapoor Zadran stepped in to claim his third victim.
During the first 15 overs, the left-armer claimed a total of three wickets, at the expense of 19 runs, registering an economy rate of 2.71. Gulbodin Naib, meanwhile, took 1 for 18.
Kevin O'Brien (8) stepped up to partner with Joyce after Wilson’s dismissal, and the two managed to get their side up to 46 by the end of the 15th over. However, with 35 overs remaining, and 4 batsmen down, Ireland’s ability to recover from the early assaults of the Afghani bowlers remains to be seen.
