Ireland v Bangladesh - Bangladesh tour of Ireland and Netherlands - 2nd T20I – Bangladesh amass 146 runs – Live Score and Update
Bangladesh 146/6 (20/20 ov) – Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat
July 20, 2012: In the second T20I between Bangladesh and hosts Ireland in the ongoing T20 series, the touring team after winning the toss, chose to bat first and amassed a stinging total of 146 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs, at Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, Belfast.
Bangladesh did not have a great start to their innings, as star opener Tamim Iqbal became the first wicket of the day, as he fell without scoring a run, leaving his team standing on a total of 12 runs.
With the opener failing, it was time for star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, to take guard, but the duo of Hasan and Mohammad Ashraful could muster only 32 runs, before the partnership met its doom on the wicket of Hasan, who found his way back to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs off nine deliveries.
Ashraful was then joined by skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, and the two exhibited some resolve against the bowling onslaught that was gaining confidence after grabbing the two most important wickets in the Bangladesh contingent.
The duo of Ashraful and Rahim took the score to 55 runs, after which it was time for Rahim to hit the showers after hammering an innings of 14 runs.
It was then time for KJ O'Brien to open his account as he nabbed the wicket of Bangladesh middle-order batsman, Mahmudullah, who fell after scoring just three runs.
Nasir Hossain then forged another impressive partnership alongside Ashraful, hammering away the bowlers, taking the score to 98 runs, before Ireland struck gold by nabbing the wicket of Ashraful, who fell after scoring 38 runs.
Just when Ireland thought they had Bangladesh right where they wanted, Hossain pulled off a resounding half century to help his side amass a fighting total on the board, as the batsman stayed unbeaten till the end of his side’s 20 overs.
Ireland now have to avoid the repeat of their lacklustre performance in the previous game, if they want to register their first win in front of home crowd against Bangladesh.
