Ireland 140/8 (20/20 ov) v Bangladesh 141/8 (20.0/20 ov) - Bangladesh won by 2 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)
July 21, 2012: Saturday saw Bangladesh clean sweep the three-match T20I series against hosts Ireland, as they successfully chased down the required target of 141 runs to win the third and final match, at Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, Belfast.
After winning the toss, the hosts had chosen to bat first as they wanted to amass a big total on the board to give Bangladesh a tough time, as they wanted to win the series finale to salvage lost pride.
Ireland’s upper-order batted well and gave a better show than the previous two encounters where they were neutralized by the touring team.
Ireland skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WTS-Porterfield-c2801, who came in as an opener, was the best batsmen from his side with an innings of 28 runs to his name.
Needing to defend a decent total, Ireland still required a few early wickets to deny http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 their third win in the series.
However, Bangladesh openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ashraful-c76740 were not in the mood to allow Ireland to salvage their pride as the duo hammered an opening stand of 62 runs, to take away the sting in the Irish bowling attack.
Finally in the 10th over, Ireland tasted their first success on the wicket of Ashraful, who departed after belting an innings of 24 runs.
In the next over, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 struck once more as they bagged the prized wicket of Iqbal, who faltered after scoring an innings of 39 runs off 37 deliveries.
This was the time when Ireland made an unexpected comeback in the match, grabbing their third wicket with only 69 runs on the board, as star performer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559, failed to leave his fans mesmerized after falling on a meager innings of just three runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nasir-Hossain-c77146 (5) the top middle-order batsmen.
This almost gave Ireland the game; however, the late heroics from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mashrafe-Mortaza-c1917 (30) gifted his team another victory only by a margin of two wickets. He was later named as the Player of the Match for saving his team from an imminent defeat.
