Question:

Ireland... what to wear?

I am going to Ireland this summer and i am wanting to know from those of you who have been there what i should bring. Ok so i know it is rainy a lot and i already get the whole bring a rainjacket thing, but i am also wondering if the dress code for what is considered socially acceptable is different in Ireland. I know that the dress code in the US is pretty loose.... low revealing shirts, tiny mini skirts, mid drift showing, etc. Is it really conservative in Ireland, as in no tank tops and no scoop neck shirts, that kinda thing? I just dont want to go there wearing what they consider unacceptable clothing. thanks!

  3. if the sun is shining anything goes ,conservative?are you in for a surprise

  4. Gert,

I think you'll be very surprised at how much the Irish people are stylin'---as I was.    Trends seem to get there before they do here, assuming you're an American as I am.

I've been there twice, and anything goes.    The style of dress is NOT conservative.   I've seem ladies there wearing shorter skirts than might be considered appropriate here!

Wear whatever you are comfortable wearing...although don't be like the lady on the plane who sat next to me wearing a Stars and Stripes jacket; I thought that was in bad taste.    Bring long-sleeve tops and long pants, too.   The weather in Ireland in summer usually is in the 60's, so it may seem cool to you.

  5. Wear whatever you normally wear.  We don't have dress codes

  6. Hey im from Ireland and trust me wear what you want! People over here dont care, and most girls wear short skirts and short tops here too!!!!

Everyone is pretty open minded all the girls here watch america t.v so they dress the same!!!!!

  7. wear what you want. Nobody cares.

People would only look at you if you wore shocking green nylon suits, head to toe knitwear or severely dated fashions.

I'd say fashion code is looser than the US...............

  8. I'm afraid that low revealing shirts, tiny mini skirts, mid drift showing are actually to get into many tourist destinations.

My only advice would be to bring those types of clothes.

My god you're in for a shock when you come here if you're asking questions like that.
