The nail-biting tussle ended in fifth game when female Irish duo, Chloe Magee and Alannah Stephenson sealed the victory over Slovakia as the Slovakians put them in deep trouble by winning two singles games.
On the other hand, Ireland’s men team was sheer disappointment as they lost terribly against Germany with 0-5 margin.

with classy 21-10 and 21-6 score.
The second singles game between the Irish shuttler Jennie King and her opponent Zuzana Orlovska set the mood of the match as Slovakia equalled the lead.
Zuzana charged from the very first shot and won the first set with 21-9 score. Jennie put a bit resistance in the second set but could not stop her Slovakian rival from taking away the game from her. The final score of the set was 21-13.
Next singles game between the Irish shuttler Alannah Stephenson and Slovakian player Martina Repiska, turned out to be the toughest and longest encounter of the match as it prolonged to 50 minutes.
Both ladies tried hard to make the opponent surrender. Alannah lost grip after winning first set against the opponent by 21-14 and Martina outclassed her in last two sets with decisive score of 21-18 and 21-16.
Last two doubles games became crucial for Ireland as Slovakia had raised their lead to 2-1. The Irish female pair of Sinead Chambers and Jennie King put a halt to Slovakia’s proceeding by winning the important match point and levelling the lead with the
final score of 19-21, 21-12 and 21-14 against their rival pair of Jana Ciznarova and Martina Repiska.
The Irish victory was made possible by the double act of Chloe Magee and Alannah Stephenson. They buried their rival’s hopes in the decisive doubles game as they hammered 21-10 and 21-7 against Barbora Bobrovska and Zuzana Orlovska.
The Irish ladies lived up to their billing as they performed masterly in group match to cheer up the nation after Irish men player’s defeat against Germany.
