Ireland’s all-rounder, Trent Johnston, pumped up to beat Pakistan in the second ODI
Former Ireland captain, Trent Johnston, has urged his team to come up with a better performance in the second One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan on Monday, May 30th, as it can strengthen Ireland’s case of playing the ICC Cricket World
Cup 2015 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to reduce the number of teams for the next World Cup to only 10, which means that none of the associate countries will be able to take part in the next mega event.
It is a very disappointing decision for Irish cricket as they have done exceedingly well in the two World Cups they have taken part in.
Johnston, who is playing in the current Irish team as a genuine all-rounder, feels that it is a great chance for the Irish team to prove their mettle in international cricket.
He said that majority of the cricket analysts around the world feel that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 has ben undermined.
He said, "It is important we put in a performance because Ireland and the next World Cup are in the limelight right now. It is a part of the talk around cricket right now. It is on the tips of people's tongues that the associates and Ireland should be allowed
a qualification process. Because of that we really need to keep the fire burning and produce a performance against Pakistan tomorrow”.
Ireland lost the first ODI against Pakistan quite badly as the whole team was dismissed for a mere 96 runs.
However, the Irish team is quite pumped up to do well against the greens in the second match.
The Irish all-rounder feels that if they can beat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the second ODI, there would be no reason why ICC won’t give a full-member status to Ireland as it has done well in the past as well.
"We know it is not the be all and end all, because we have been consistent in our performances for a while now and think we deserve a chance. But at the same time we can help our cause if we beat Pakistan tomorrow and get another full-member scalp", Johnston
added.
