Talented Indian medium-pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601, is delighted with his comeback to international cricket after staying in the wilderness for almost two and a half years. He believes that he has returned as a more competent and diligent sportsman who knows his
strengths and weaknesses well.
Irfan was regarded as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s future superstar when he made his Test debut in 2003. Unfortunately, Pathan was unable to maintain his performance, and was hurled out of the team because of fitness and form issues.
The left-arm quick bowler has worked hard during this period of exclusion and has re-earned his place by virtue of 21 wickets in four http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy matches this season. He was given the opportunity to represent India in the fifth and final One Day International
(ODI) against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 last month.
Although, he did nothing special with the bat, with the ball he was marvelous. In the absence of India’s key bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625, he was up to the mark and produced impressive figures of two for 42 in nine overs.
Irfan is happy with his return to action after a long gap, and stated that he has been putting in a lot of effort to secure his permanent spot in the national squad.
"I am happy about my comeback after two and a half years. The way my form is going at present I am hoping to do well in whatever match I get to play. I was never an out and out pace bowler. I now know my limitations after all the problems I went through,"
he said.
"I am now concentrating more on my limitations because at the end of the day what is important is performance. The most important thing was to play as many matches this season. Whatever match I get, I won`t leave it,” added the 27-year-old all-rounder.
So far in his 108-game ODI career, the Gujarati swing bowler has scalped 154 wickets at an average of 29.79. After the ongoing Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Team India is set to play a triangular ODI series, and Irfan is hoping for call up for tour Down
Under.
