Irina Bespalov and Ekaterina Andreev shine in Ruzi: Final day – Russian Cup 2011
Last session on the final day of the 2011 Russian Cup conducted several scintillating events in competitive swimming at Ruzi, in Russia, on Monday, July 4.
Irina Bespalov secured gold medal in the Women’s 100m butterfly meet, whereas, Ekaterina Andreev captured the golden crown in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley final. In other important meets, Nikita Konovalov grabbed the gold title in the Men’s 50m butterfly race, while Vladislav Gray snared the Men’s 200m IM title.
Bespalov took home the Women’s 100m butterfly crown with a sterling time of 59.03 seconds. Veronika Popova earned silver spot on the podium with a time of 59.14 seconds, while Svetlana Fedulova captured the bronze title in 1 minute and 00.49 seconds.
In the second race, Ekaterina Andreev rounded out the top one in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley with a winning time of 2 minutes and 15.90 seconds. Kristina Kochetkova earned second place honours in 2 minutes and 18.17 seconds, while Aigul Sagirova snared bronze in the respective meet in a time of 2 minutes and 19.60 seconds.
The Men’s 50m butterfly crown was captured by Nikita Konovalov in 24.09 seconds. Ivan Udalov wound up second on the podium with a time of 24.54 seconds, whereas, Vladislav Gray grabbed third spot in 24.59 seconds.
Dmitry Zhilin snagged the Men’s 200m Individual Medley crown with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 01.19 seconds, while Dmitry Gorbunov hit the finishing wall to claim the silver medal in 2 minutes and 02.39 seconds. The bronze title went to Aleksey Atsapkin in a time of 2 minutes and 02.90 seconds.
Earlier, Evgeny Lagunov secured gold medal in the Men’s 100m freestyle with a winning time of 49.33 seconds, whereas, Anton Butymov took home the Men's 100m back-stroke crown in a time of 55.04 seconds.
Grigory Falko won the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race after touching the finishing wall in a time of 2 minutes and 11.68 seconds. In the Women’s 50m freestyle meet, Svetlana Fedulova earned the gold medal in a winning time of 25.66 seconds.
