Irina-Camelia Begu outfoxes Gisela Dulko in the 2nd round – Texas Open 2011

World number 48 Irina-Camelia Begu ousted world number 58 Gisela Dulko in straight sets of 6-4, 6-3 during the second round of the Texas Open 2011. Competing or the first time on hard courts of Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine, Texas,
Begu was triumphant over Dulko.
During the first set neither of the players had perfected their serves instead both had committed double faults but Argentine Dulko had one extra double fault than her Romaine adversary.
Begu was only able to gain 52% of her total service points because her serve lacked power, but in comparison to her opponent who barely attained 46% of her service points, she had a better performance.
Although both the players had a good return, the Romaine owned her return games and won 15 out of 28 points, making in an above average 54% of her total return points, whereas, Dulko had also won more return points than her serve,
which amassed to a 48% win of her returns in the opening set.
Begu gained an edge because she was able to save 50% of her break points and was capable enough to break her opponent’s serve 3 out 5 times, capitalizing on 60% of her break points won, while the Argentinean had broken her rival’s
serve twice. Hence, Begu gained a total win of 52% in the total set score and clogged the set by attaining a 3 more points.
20 year-old Begu saw a comprehensive victory in the first set and wished for another, hallelujah, her prayers were answered and she saw yet another comprehensive victory over the 26 year-old Argentine.
The 20 year-old Romaine had taken a notch higher in her serves but saw a sharp fall in the return serves, nevertheless, she was able to accomplish a commendable 67% n her total service points and a below average win of 35% of her
total return points which were still better than her Argentinean rival’s, who bagged only a 33% win of the total returns.
Winning more games on her serve along with, not setting up a break point opportunity and instead, she was able to break her challenger’s serve once, she won the set.
In one hour and 24 minutes Begu won the match by accomplishing a total match score of 6/120 which were 8 more points.
