Irina Ramialison trounces Tamara Bizhukova to reach semis – Antalya ITF 2012
French starlet, Irina Ramialison, dumped the Russian teenager, Tamara Bizhukova, in straight sets at the Antalya ITF 2012 on Friday. She jolted down a 6-2, 6-2 score line against the Russian to power into final four at this ITF (International Tennis Federation)
Women’s Circuit event taking place in Antalya, Turkey.
Seeded eighth in this event, Ramialison showed brilliant abilities at this outdoor clay court tournament taking place from 17th to 23rd December. She ruled throughout the battle before carving out the victory in almost one hour and
15 minutes. As a result, the French comfortably secured a place in the final four and moved a step closer towards the prize money.
The players last fought each other at this tournament last week. However, after bagging this match, Ramialison maintained her winning record.
The 21-year-old high-spiritedly entered the Go Tennis Academy. After Bizhukova held her serve in the fourth game, the French unleashed flurry of groundstrokes and reeled off following four games. She blocked both breakpoints she came across and converted
two out of five break opportunities to her advantage.
Ranked 589th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Ramialison kept her momentum sailing in the following set. She got the coveted break in the opening game and jumped to a 2-0 lead. Despite losing her edge afterwards and levelling
the scores at 2-2, the French continued hitting angled shots and went on a four-game tear. She failed to dust away the lone breakpoint she faced but availed half of the six break opportunities to achieve her goal.
The French youngster lost only a single set in this tournament. She gifted away the opener in her round of 32 battle against Bulgaria’s Julia Stamatova. However, Ramialison remained focused and eventually clobbered a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory.
She lifted her game in the following round where the local challenger, Cemre Anil, awaited. She eased past the Turk with a breadstick before reaching quarters.
Up next for Ramialison is the seventh seed, Manon Arcangioli. The lower seed bounced back from a set down to formulate a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 score line in almost three hours.
